Archive for the ‘full Moon in Aries 2021’ Category

When I looked at the astrology chart for the full Moon this morning, I noticed how many planets are in tight contact with Sun and Moon. ‘This is is about community, ‘ I thought. Then I read the Sabian Symbol for the Sun’s degree in Libra: ‘A MAN BECOMING AWARE OF SPIRITUAL FORCES SURROUNDING AND ASSISTING HIM. KEYNOTE: The realization, at any level of existence, that one is never alone, and that the “community” — visible or invisible — is sustaining one’s efforts.‘ And even though it happens to us all the time, I was stunned by parallel promise of community, as so clearly illustrated in the chart of this full Moon moment.

The symbol goes on: ‘At the animal level, the whole biosphere is the community; for the ordinary human being, it is the tribe or family, the village community, the nation. As the individual expands his consciousness, he may become aware of a spiritual community…this produces a state of strong inner assurance.’

Who are these planetary supporters of the Libra Sun and Aries Moon? There is the warrior Mars in tight connection to the Sun. Does he have something to learn from the Libra Sun who shines with harmonious intentions? Is he a decorative guard, or a fierce proponent of this moment? This is especially balanced because the Aries Moon keeps Eris as her right hand companion. Eris is the sister of Aries (Mars) and loved to stir up excitement and chaos in the name of family honor. This might not bode well for peace and harmony in the world, but it may be the opportunity each of us has to look at our anger, and how we deal with conlict, especially conflict in the name of honor.

Pluto, the lord of the Underworld, squares the the two lights and their guards. I think he is actually a steadying force. Perhaps he speaks for Earth, and the ‘biosphere which surrounds us.’ The UN climate change conference is in preparation. Pluto may send some environmental reminders that this is no longer someone else’s problem. Pluto cannot be dodged or covered over. He, like death is unavoidable.

Next is Jupiter. He is not as threatening as Pluto in his approach, or position in the chart, but may be offering some Aquarian insight on the structure of human residence on the planet. Both Pluto and Jupiter are in signs ruled by the planet Saturn. Saturn makes a neat trine to Mercury, and to the Earth goddess Ceres (Demeter). It’s time for the human community to listen to an emergency gathering of the forces of change. The UN conference on climate change begins on October 31, a date when all that no longer supports life is swept away with Scorpionic vigor.

Interesting how the Sabian Symbol for the Moon’s position sums this up: ‘Great hopes, excited expectations cannot be sustained. What is implied here is the need to be more than “obsessed by potentiality”. The objective results have to be considered. The individual is not alone concerned, for in a sense mankind as a whole will be affected. What is required, therefore, is an objective inclusiveness of the whole environment; thus a sense of RESPONSIBILITY for what one’s actions will produce in people who have been made to expect significant results. ‘ The actual verbal image of the Moon’s degree is ‘A large audience confronts the performer who has disappointed its expectations. ‘

This is where ‘Community Light’ comes in. At this full Moon all who know we are part of the Earth, not her inhabitants, must speak in our own way. With the unmoveable strength of Pluto, we must take the light of the community both ‘visible and invisible,’ into our hands and demand responsibility from ourselves, and our leaders to treat our home and body with deep love and respect.

Sabian Symbols are verbal images for each degree of the Zodiac. Channeled by psychic Elsie  Wheeler and transcribed by the astrologer Marc Edmund Jones in 1925. They were revised by Dane Rudhyar in his book Astrology of Personality.   You can find them online at http://www.mindfire.ca/.
