Moon Love       Sarah Fuhro

The Moon loves the Earth,

even though,

we cover her

with shopping malls,

and oil rigs,

and misery.

Moon looks down

from the sky,

perfect in new crescent,

sees me, as I drive

to Home Depot for junk,

and she says:

‘I love the Earth,

and some night,

you might.

Some night, you

will embrace her,

as I embrace her tonight,

and leave the road,

and the oil,

and the blood behind.’

new-moon-in-libra-2016-natural-housesThe new Moon in Libra celebrates the possibility we might find new ways to relate to others. But as always the change has to come from a transformation within, a work reflected onto the outer world.

Libra rules the Seventh House, place of action where we find our partners and marriage. The Seventh House is what we don’t want to own about ourselves but often find in a close relationship. Libra is at home in the Seventh House of the astrology chart, which is also the place of ‘karma’ personified…’what goes around comes around.’ Libra rules courts and justice; the Scales of the symbol give a hint about how that works

A blindfold hides the face of Justice. It’s a lot of work to remove the blindfold from our eyes when it comes to relationship! Since Libra is ruled by the lovely Venus, we don’t always see how the way we treat ourselves will come back to bite us. Venus is not the promise in this sign; she is the consequence.

Jupiter is in the mix with the Sun and Moon in Libra. Jupiter is also involved with judges
and laws. Traditionally, Venus and Jupiter are considered the ‘Benefics.’   We breathe a sigh of relief when they show up. But they can ‘benefit’ us in strange ways…they represent our Desire nature. Desire in Western Occultism is the first step towards manifestation. It is the Fire element, the spark, which sets off the whole process of life.

metal-roosterMars is square to Sun and Moon and Jupiter.   there is a metallic taste to this chart. It is further deepened by the Venus in Scorpio, ruler of Libra, working through a sign ruled by Mars. There is talk in the news about colonizing Mars. This may be a passage in Libra which ties our relationship to anger and excessive energy.   The Sabian Symbol for the degree of Mars may be the final clue for the message of this new Moon:‘A human soul in in ists eagerness for new experience seeks
embodiment
A powerful yearning for whatever will increase the scope and depth of one’s contacts with other living beings.’

Walk in the woods and notice how trees relate to each other. They can teach us of the variety and beauty dramatized in this new Moon in Libra, where the beauty of each is reflected in the ever changing relationship they create.

The Full Moon in Pisces arrives Friday, September 16, with a healer, Chiron the centaur. If this Lunar Eclipse has a strong connection to your chart, you may experience an up swelling of pain from past experiences, but the remedy comes with the pain. We are not left to doctor ourselves, yet we must be partners in the healing process.

Mars is in square to the Sun and Moon and he has his own centaur companion, Pholus. Both Pholus and Chiron are visitors, possibly temporary visitors from outside the solar system. Each offer healing and transformation of some deep, dark aspects of our shared human experience. They seem to be connected to the ancestral realms and generational healing. They challenge us to look at tyranny, in the family, and inner dialogue.

Physical punishment, shame, and humiliation, were accepted methods of teaching children, in the home, in the school, and in religious doctrine.  They  now seem traumatic. Patriarchy and its rules of how and whom to love have begun to crumble.   Chiron and Pholus tell us there is a wound, but it must be observed, and not judged for it to heal. Will we dissolve into the tears and fears of Pisces, offering ourselves as victim and martyr, or, like the serpent in the picture above, come to accept our whole Self?  That means allowing our less beautiful, less developed facets to be included in the circle.

two-of-cupsThe serpent is part of the symbol of healing as we see in the Two of Cups. It is a reflection of our nervous system and way it wraps around the spine. But healing can only happen when there is balance. This morning a quote in French arrived in my email. The quote was by Dr. Edward Bach, the English physician who developed flower essence therapy. I was startled because it seemed so much in tune with this full Moon chart. ‘La santé dépend de notre état d’harmonie avec notre âme.’ (Health depends upon upon our harmony with our soul.)

How can harmony with the soul be depicted? The square between Saturn and Neptunefull-moon-in-pisces suggests both imagination (Neptune) and focused effort (Saturn) are involved. And then there is love, and with Venus in the sign of balance, Libra, we can take what we have learned from pain (Chiron and the Moon) and transform it through our own creativity and love. This Venus is opposite the energized combination of Uranus and Eris. We must heal our own way, despite what may feel like chaos.

Here is a friend’s message from the morning’s mail:

twisty-tree-sepia“It may be that when we no longer know what to do,
we have come to our real work
and when we no longer know which way to go,
we have begun our real journey.

The mind that is not baffled is not employed.
The impeded stream is the one that sings.”       Wendell Berry

This chart contains the pain and the remedy, the wound and the balm. In this way we come to know ourselves as wise healers. A doctor studies disease in order to heal it, but we may have to study health in order to heal as well.

edward-bachEurope, Asia, Australia, Africa, West in South America, Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Arctic, Antarctica will see this lunar eclipse. But we all know its power to make us feel wounded and vulnerable (Pisces Moon) and powerfully healed (Virgo Sun).   The Virgo Pisces Lunar Nodes are found in the charts of many healers, Dr. Bach was one of them. He gave up a powerful practice and reputation to go into the countryside and developed the healing power of flowers, something simple and available to the poor folk of depression eara Britain.  He believed all illness began at the etheric (emotional) level, and must be healed through the soul power of flowers and sunshine.

The theme of vulnerability and creative response  is repeated in the Saturn /Neptune square, exact at this time.  We can experience this combination as fear and anxiety or creative opportunity put into tangible form.

Jupiter (ruler of the Pisces Moon) has recently entered Libra.   The Sabian symbol for his degree speaks of the themes of this chart:

‘The transmutation of the fruits of past experiences into the seed-realizations of the forever creative spirit.’     keynote: ‘A repolarization of inner energies leading to a creative centralization of consciousness.’

enigmebody Like the sphinx we are heart and head, lion and lady.

Don’t feel just part of this full Moon chart, feel all of it, pain and healing! The Lunar Eclipse will devour the Moon, our feeling receptacle, but she will emerge triumphant and beautiful at the end The lemniscate over the Lady’s head offers the same process we began with, in knowing and acceptance of our whole person, we are eternal.
