Archive for the ‘New Moon in Aries 2020’ Category

Sun and Moon are locked in the fiery embrace of Aries, but they are not alone.  At a time of world wide emergency, Chiron, the healer watches over them.    The body of the earth is in crisis, and because we are of the earth, our bodies are in crisis as well.  Only two weeks ago, at  the full Moon in  Pisces, the Sun was bathed in Neptune’s fog, a warning that the illness, which had sickened some, might soon become a pandemic. This is universal, and no amount of denial, will keep any community safe.   The earth has opened beneath our feet.

The Sabian Symbol* for the new Moon is: ‘A Triangle with Wings:   The capacity for self-transcending…A NEW DIMENSION of being is envisioned mobilizing creative endeavors.’

If you look closely at this card you will see the symbols for Mars and Capricorn.  And indeed at this moment Mars is in the sign of Capricorn in the close company of Pluto, Jupiter and Pallas Athena.   Mars is considered ‘exalted’ in Capricorn, it works well in this sign.  Mars is the ruler of Aries.  It is in action (creative endeavors) that the human community may come through this with a deeper appreciation of how close we always are to death (Pluto), recognition of spirit (Jupiter) and deep wisdom (Pallas Athena).

We cannot love, honor and care for own human bodies more than we care for the body which is all of us,  the Earth.  In the picture below the Sun is setting on a quartz torso lying on a hilltop.  The beauty and vulnerability of the planet and our bodies is on the line.

Chiron in Aries, says action must be taken to heal.  An injury has been sustained, now it must be mended by Chiron’s loving attention.  Chiron was a centaur who could heal everyone, but not his own wound.  The planetoid (?) Chiron was discovered in 1977,  recently  moved into Taurus (healing the earth).  People born between 1968 and 1976 have Chiron in Aries as our children born now.  Chiron in Aries children were born into a huge cultural turmoil which they had to navigate by themselves, like warriors (Aries).  Now we are back to a Chiron in Aries period where children will have to fend for themselves.  I think of all the refugee children separated from parents at the American border,  and there may be children who must care for adults during this epidemic.  Whatever the challenge, those born with Chiron in Aries, shake off their wounds and begin anew.  Chiron has the meaning of ‘hand’.  We heal by laying our hands on a wound.

This chart has many hopeful aspects to it, if we want to use them.  The proximity of Chiron to the seed of the Lunar cycle speaks of a wound, but at the same time of a healing presence.  Mars, the action we must take to stop the spread of this disease, is strong and eager to create new forms of healing.   Pluto and Jupiter in almost the same degree as Mars offer dismantlement of the old forms (Pluto) and reorganization (Saturn). Mars and Jupiter work well together and are a very creative combination.    I love the photo below, a ‘dead’ tree reveals an inner crystalline structure, a new form.

There is another very important pattern in this chart which offers the dynamic of creative solutions.   The New Moon and Chiron are in a square pattern to the Lunar Nodes.  The Nodes are in Capricorn and Cancer.  With North Node in Cancer effort must be made to take the organizational prowess of Capricorn and turn it towards the great maternal, family aspect of Cancer.   A business (Capricorn) which does not support the human needs  of its workers and consumers does not meet Cancer’s demands.  Too many businesses exist to support stock holders without regard for workers or customers and are now in free fall.   This chart offers many tools for ways to turn our pandemic into a higher state of consciousness.  It all depends on our outlook.  The Sun sets behind the wooden arch of a fallen tree.  The tree has taken the form of a horse’s head and neck.

 Aries

And now for Aries…For we have entered a new season, SPRING, as well as a new Lunar cycle.   Amelia Leonards has illustrated this constellation with her deep and powerful talents and intuitions as illustrator and story teller.

The astrological year begins with the entry of the Sun into Aries,   The Sun is exalted in Aries and we can all feel the power of this fire dance.  There is thrust in Aries, a warrior and who does not hesitate to use his light saber to wake up the Northern Hemisphere.   Energy, sexuality, outward flowing and positive energy is everywhere around us.  We can see it as birds sing and preen, and in the crocus, who does not push away an oak leaf, but cuts right through the old leathery surface.  Wherever Aries is located in your chart is where you are energized, and unstoppable.   Sexual energy and anger belong to Aries, and they are often found in close proximity. Aries is also a deep commitment to justice, to our notions of what is right and wrong. The warrior relationship is based on trust between comrades, and the desire to prove one’s courage.   Aries rules the head. The ram who is the symbol of this constellation, goes head first into battle.   His planetary ruler is Mars, the god of war, but he represents vitality, stamina, ardor as well as military action.   The poet with a head on fire is an ancient symbol of creative inspiration.
