Pisces is the last sign of the Zodiac. Like a seedpod, it contains all the aspects of the plant at the end of the its growth cycle and contains the next cycle held within a cradle.
This particular full Moon in Pisces comes at the end of the Sun’s journey through Virgo, and so the end of the Moon’s stay in Pisces. We all know that in the end is the beginning, and in the beginning is the end.
Several powerful planets are witness to this transitional moment. Neptune, the modern ruler of Pisces is close to the Moon, and the two are considering the fate of the seas. After all, Pisces is fish, and Neptune is the Lord of the oceans. I spent several days this week camping and walking by the Gulf of Maine…..a perfect combination of Virgo’s connection to the Earth and Pisces to the Water. Less than a century ago, people lived on the islands of this beautiful place, not as vacationers, but in deep life and death partnership with sea creatures, fish, stone, boats, and the sky’s light.
Pluto is also keeping watch over the luminaries, just as the lighthouses of the coat kept sailors in a conversation with the contours of stone, sand and water: life and death, the boundaries of Pluto’s kingdom. The Gulf of Maine is marked by lighthouses which spoke through light to sailers and fisherman on the sea. Often the message was ‘don’t come any closer.’ Perhaps Pluto’s message at this moment in time is also a warning to Earth’s ‘luminaries.’ You must pay attention to the disaster you have created….don’t come any closer.
Jupiter has a large role in this chart as well. Jupiter is the sky god, just as Pluto rules the Underworld. They are brothers, and Pluto saw Jupiter as having all the fun. In Monday’s chart, Jupiter has a very direct access to Mercury, who, because he is the planet and god of communication, is also a trickster. Our mental powers are a double edged sword and our inner dialogue swings us easily from despair to ecstasy….from belief to cynicism. I think in this case we might need the two of them to fully immerse our bodies and minds in the natural joyousness of being alive. In a few days we celebrate the point of equal light and dark over all the Earth. To be in balance, we must dance in night and day.
