A New Moon should be a time of quiet reflection, a moment to pull back and contemplate what seeds will be planted to blossom at the time of the full Moon. Yet this new Moon has full Moon energy to agitate us and keep us moving!
Sun and Moon are meeting in Aries on April 7th at 7:23 AM EDT. Aries is already fiery and full of spring energy. The Sun is Exalted in Aries (more of that in a moment).
They are not alone in their conjunction. Revolutionary Uranus is there, two degrees away. Uranus makes demands upon us to move, to shake it up, to feel the courage to explore new territory. Yet somehow we know we must get off the spinning top of electronic demands that Uranus communicates to us.
That would be enough excitement, but Eris, dwarf planet named after the Goddess of chaos is mixed in this as well. Discord and confusion are tempting when there is more energy than we can handle. The Sun will make an exact conjunction with Lady Eris on April 12. This gives us time to focus where the courage needs to be applied in our life!
The day before the new Moon, there is a square to Pluto, who doesn’t let anything go unnoticed. He may travel incognito, but we may not. This is continued reverberation from the Pluto/Uranus square we have experienced over the last seven years. The lessons of push and pull are deeply embedded in us by now.
Aphrodite
In the core of our apple,
the planet earth,
dwells the great polestar
of the underworld-
Lord of Change,
Transformer eternal,
Hades himself.
With each breath
he draws into his lungs
the Universe begins anew.
He alone has the key
to every rusted lock.
Whoever has walked
across a freshly plowed
field at twilight
in spring’s season,
and raised loving eyes
to see the crescent
moon adorned
in diamond earring,
you are entering
the drama which
has no beginning
and knows no end.
This is also a ‘Super’ Moon, because the Moon is closest to the earth during this instant of new beginning. We are offered a gift of high energy and new spring potential in this poignant moment, which calls for retreat into a place of stillness!
Sun is considered exalted in Aries, which means he can work at his highest potential. It is the season of the spring equinox when the Sun enters the sign of Aries. It is the beginning of a new astrological cycle. 18° of Aries is considered an especially auspicious moment in the Sun’s journey through the ecliptic. If you have a gift of art, of clarity, a new dance to give, do not hold back.
The Sabian Symbol for this degree is ‘A Magic Carpet : The use of creative imagination.
A way of life refusing a hectic involvement in social competition and waste-producing overproduction allows for the development of unattached and transcendent understanding. The period of rest from outwardly directed activity bound to collective normality presents the creative mind with the possibility of surveying in dreams the totality of the present-day social situation, thus “to see whole.”
The fourth stage of the fourth five-fold sequence of symbols invokes the possibility of developing a new technique of perception, a strife-transcending and unattached outlook upon everyday reality.’
In the middle of all this fiery excitement we are at a degree of newness that suggests we pull back and meditate in a way that allows us to see things in a new way…’to see whole!’ How do we do this?
This is an especially condensed set of planets. Where do they fall in your chart? This will be the theater of activity where you will feel this fiery rush of energy and drama. Give yourself the ‘Magic Carpet ‘ of Creative Visualization.
For me it takes place in my 9th House of philosophy, the search for meaning, for spiritual connection, for a world view that gives hope. No wonder I am suddenly devouring Gurdjieff! He calls for a personal revolution based upon self observation. This causes chaos and a deep commitment to ‘creative imagination,’ which Sun and Moon give us in their residence at the 18th degree of Aries.
This will be a new Moon of the Dandelion. I will take Dandelion flower essence from the ‘little Sun’ which bloomed from a crack in the cement next to my house!
