It’s Almost Time
It’s almost time,
almost time for the change in light
but almost time
for the poor and weak to reach out
their trembling hands to each other and to grasp. It’s almost time
for the kind to smile
and be seen
in all their glory,
for the shift in power. It’s almost time
for the silenced to sing
and for the earth to receive the sweet rain
of justice as it falls on ploughed fields. It’s almost time to be brave
and to go the next step
without knowing how.It’s almost time
for the knowledge of the Moon
to rise in the dark sky and let us know
there is more than one way
to see the road ahead.Sarah Fuhro December 2007

The waning Moon in company with Jupiter and Venus
Friday will begin a new lunar cycle at 5:29 am. 19° Sagittarius is the location for the Sun and Moon meet up. Jupiter and Venus have adorned the dawn sky with the waning Moon for days. Now we shall have a Moonless sky for a few days until she comes out of the Sun’s bright beams.
A few hours into the new Moon my husband and I will drive to New Hampshire’s state capital to stand with friends and fellow Druids who oppose a gas pipeline scheduled to cut through the state. All of this plays against the backdrop of the climate meetings in Paris, which started with high hopes and now seem to be floundering in efforts by government to be FOR protecting the climate, but not for any action, which might make a difference. A new Moon in Sagittarius seems like the opportunity to begin anew with the high hopes of this sign.
Sagittarius is associated with high ideals, but it seems ideals can also be dangerous! Famous for tolerance, Sagittarius will not tolerate disagreement! The Sagittarian spirit helps us enjoy people from other cultures and backgrounds, but will also be quick to judge difference. Perhaps this conflict between enthusiastic idealism and the potential for harsh fanaticism is reflected in the mixture of human and horse, the symbol of the sign. It is often those who are most uncomfortable with their animal self, who feel the need to crush the life out of others.
‘The lustre and hubris some have aspired to while endorsing acts so heinous against children, elders, everyday people, the poor, the unguarded, the helpless, is breathtaking. Yet, I urge you, ask you, gentle you, to please not spend your spirit dry by bewailing these difficult times. Especially do not lose hope. Most particularly because, the fact is that we were made for these times. Yes. For years, we have been learning, practicing, been in training for and just waiting to meet on this exact plain of engagement. ‘
Clarissa Pinkola Estes poet, Jungian psychoanalyst, author of Women Who Run With the Wolves.
Or, maybe, because Sagittarius is the place in the ecliptic closest to the center of the Galaxy, the brightest spot in the Milky Way, and at the same time the place of a gigantic Black Hole, it must carry our light and dark in the same vessel.
Jon Lomberg’s painting of the Milky Way has been reflected in a garden plan found in San Diego, the Galaxy Garden.
Here is the plan of the Garden based on the Galaxy:

Here is the chart for the new Moon in Sagittarius. An astrology chart attempts to connect us to the Solar System at a moment in time.Jupiter, ‘ruler’ of Sagittarius is in a close square to the Sun and Moon. Squares challenge us to see things differently. It’s like looking out of the corner
of your eye and seeing something that hadn’t seen on first glance. In this case, Jupiter is in the sign of Virgo. He’s also very close to the North Node in Virgo. He recommends something I need to hear constantly, slow down, and don’t do anything on ‘automatic pilot.’ The joyful and confident nature of Sagittarius, was caught up short for me several times.
Was it Jupiter who sent me a series of messages about my speed and oblivion today? I think Jupiter is also reminding us who are awash in Sagittarian bliss to look deeper into the spiritual roots of the season. Another centaur is in the mix as well. Chiron, the great healer of the Greek world, is square the luminaries. His message is about compassion. He is traveling through the sign of Pisces, also ruled by Jupiter. Now we have a ‘T-Square.’ This is an aspect with an open side, which in this case is Gemini. Gemini is the talker. Is there something which must be said in order for healing and integration to take place in your life? in your family, in the world?
‘Ours is not the task of fixing the entire world all at once, but of stretching out to mend the part of the world that is within our reach. Any small, calm thing that one soul can do to help another soul, to assist some portion of this poor suffering world, will help immensely. It is not given to us to know which acts or by whom, will cause the critical mass to tip toward an enduring good.’
